Making a Will
Deciding to make a Will is an important decision that everyone has to face at some point.
Once you decide to go ahead and put your affairs in order it is important that the Will is written and executed in the correct legal manner so that it is effective when you die.
I have a great deal of experience in this area and I can consult with you to find out what your requirements are and then carry them out by creating a watertight Will.
If you have any issues that you are unsure about I will be able to find a legal solution to them for you.

Why do I need a Will?
- To ensure your assets go to the people you wish. Making a Will is the only way to ensure that your assets go to your loved ones in the way that you would like. If you do not leave a Will the law decides who gets what.
- Children. To specify who would get guardianship of your children if you died.
- To minimise Inheritance Tax liability.
- To specify your funeral wishes.
- Avoid family disputes. Many disputes arise between family members when a Will has not been left. By making a Will you can avoid any dispute by making it clear exactly what you want to happen.
- To avoid your assets going to the Crown if you have no family.
- Unmarried partners. If you are living with someone but are not married it is critical that you make a Will, otherwise they may get nothing. Unmarried partners have very little protection in law and the idea of a ‘common law partner’ has no legal standing.
- Personal possessions. Even if you do not have substantial financial or property assets you may still have important personal possessions that you may wish to leave to particular people.
- Make donations to charity or favoured causes.
